Yet, small droplets have a problem: Drift, the movement of droplets off-target. Low drift nozzle produces fewer drift-prone droplets, < 100 μm, compared to standard hydraulic nozzles. In pesticide applications, standard hydraulic nozzles, hollow cone and flat fan nozzles are generally used by farmers. These nozzles have broad droplet spectrum and high proportion drift-prone droplets. Sample of drifted droplets and measurements in field conditions are expensive and can be time-consuming. However, models can be applied to predict drift without field measurement. In this study, model and field measurement of percentage pesticide drift were compared using different hydraulic nozzles, D4-45, F 11006 and low drift 11003 by gas chromatography equipped with a nitrogen-phosphorus detector. In the result of this study, for all nozzles, values up to 2 m and 3 m showed that there were statistically different according to German model and Dutch model, respectively. In the result of this study, percentage drift at 5 m compared to 1 m distance decreased approximately 15 folds in low drift 11003, 12 in F 11006 and 10 folds in hollow cone D4-45 nozzles in actual application and 5 folds in German and 9 folds in Dutch models.

Field data and prediction models of pesticide spray drift on coffee crop
The objective of this work was to generate drift curves from pesticide applications on coffee plants and to compare them with two European drift‐prediction models. The used methodology is based on the ISO 22866 standard. The experimental design was a randomized complete block with ten replicates in a 2x20 split‐plot arrangement. The evaluated factors were: two types of nozzles (hollow cone with...

The practical use of spray drift databases and models for predicting drift exposure in pesticide applications is discussed. The AgDRIFT® model, developed by government and industry scientists in the US facilitates such assessments for various application scenarios. Aerial applications can be modelled using a predictive model that considers the effects of application, tank mix, meteorological an...
متن کاملEstimating the Saturated Hydraulic Conductivity of Soil Using Gene Expression Programming Method and Comparing It with the Pedotransfer Functions
Saturated hydraulic conductivity of soil is an important physical property of soil that affects water movement in soil, Since the measurement of saturated hydraulic conductivity by direct methods in the field or in the laboratory is hard, time-consuming and costly, the indirect methods are being used. The aim of this study is to estimate the saturated hydraulic conductivity from other soil prope...

In 2007 and 2008, field trials were carried out with different standard and drift-reducing nozzles in sugar beet, maize, chicory, Belgian endive (all herbicide applications), wheat (fungicide application) and potatoes (Haulm killing herbicide application). The effect of nozzle type (standard flat fan, low-drift flat fan, air injection), nozzle size (ISO 02, 03 and 04) and application volume on ...
متن کاملReducing Spray Drift
Spray drift is the movement of a pesticide through the air, during or after application, to a site other than the intended target. Drift is considered to be the most challenging problem facing applicators and pesticide manufacturers. Although drift may occur as vaporized active pesticide from the application site, it is usually the physical movement of very small drops from the target area at t...
